Master's degree in IT Engineering

I recently graduated with B.S. degree in programming/application development.I'm thinking about going for my master's degree in software engineering.I know the job market/economy isn't good right now/no one is hiring.Do you think it's worth getting an engineer degree?Does anyone here have one?

    Yes. The industry needs actual engineers. Not people with MIS degrees that take 3 credit hours of java and become developers...

    I wanted to augment that with... I know plenty of excellent programmers with no degree or just an MIS degree.

    Sorry to my friends... I meant in general I wish we had more people going for engineering degrees.
