If you're working on the CCNA (which I'll assume you are since you posted this here), the 2600's are great. The only thing I can think of off hand that they can't do is SDM.

    As alan2308 said, a 2600 doesn't support SDM. You need a 2600XM or 2691 to get SDM.

Officially as impz points out, the 2651 only supports 12.3 but if you max out the RAM and maybe TFTP boot it, you can get 12.4 running with the smaller feature sets. Don't expect it to be reliable as you'll be severely low on memory and the TFTP booting will be slow & annoying. Unless you specifically need something from 12.4 then it'll be better to use 12.3.

This specific router only has 32MB RAM and 8MB flash installed so you're going to need to purchase upgrades for it. It also only comes with 12.1.3T which is ancient and you're going to need to upgrade that to 12.3 at least.

Its a decent router but you're going to have to buy some upgrades and work around some issues. If they were for sale with these specs then I'd give it a miss but if they're free then its fine.

I found these in a cupboard that had been locked shut for about ten years, so thats why there a bit archaic.

Don't think I'll bother with them, i'll just stick them back for another ten years.

Beside's I won't be able to get hold of any IOS for them.

I've got half a dozen 1760's here, I'll make a start on them.

Thanks for all the info. Appreciated:D

The 2651's can support 32mb flash and 128MB ram so they can run 12.4 adv enterprise. However its not officially supported by "cisco" pe se.

Also SDM is not supported on that particular platform however SDM is end of life end of service now.

These routers would make great lab routers for CLI configuration if you upgraded the ram/flash.
There is no place like 127.0.0.1
