Assign vs Published

An application that is published is not installed yet untill you manually install it from the Control Panel


With an Assign application on the other hand appears as a short cut in the desktop and when the user clicks on it would be install Automatically

This is what I got from a question from Measure Up.

However in other questions it gave something like the opposite. If you assign a program it will just have a short cut and when you click on it, it runs from the Server while it said if it was published, it would of installed on your computer

so Im kinda confused a bit, does anybody have any extra info on this?

a published application can be both installed by either add/remove program or by clicking the associated file ext.
