Hello everyone!
I am new to this forum and to Microsoft certifications. So I am planning to take MCTS 70-642 exam Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring. Later I want to continue with 70-640 Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring direct towards MCITP: Server Administrator. Now I have something to ask. Is it important the way of studying and taking the exams lets say its better first 70-642 then 70-640 or otherwise. Also for learning material are the books of this two exams split up or I need to take the first one in order to understand second one with that order 70-642 first and then 70-640?
Thanks in advance

drew2000 Member Posts: 290For those two I don't think it matters, the subject matter is different enough between the tests. If your CCNA is fresh, I would hit 642 first because you will need your subnetting skills.
If you are strong in AD, then 640 would be fine.
You'll need them both so it really doesn't matter (IMHO).

Zentraedi Member Posts: 150I would definitely say take 640 first.
I really wish I had just ignored all the "take 642 first" or "the order doesn't matter" peopleCurrent Study Track

I was in the same dilemma, and decided to learn 642 first than 640. Simply because of networking and the fact that you need to know windows server any way if you want to study AD am I right?Per aspera ad astra-Seneka -

The sybex book probably goes deeper into the theory but the Exam Cram books are an easier read. I usually end up getting more then one book when I'm going for an exam, usually one microsoft one and one other. The Sybex book got me over the finish line for my 646.
If buying just one book, I would go for the Sybex, this exam lark is not cheap nowadays
