Hello all,
I had a scenario going around in my head after configuring SNMP on all the switches in my company.
What if we had two management servers who had the SAME RO/RW community string? Would both machines receive the switches information, or is it a "first come, first server" basis.
I am sure I can simulate this but I'd figure if anyone here ever ran into this scenario.

You can have as many NMS's setup as you like. I actually have three different servers setup to monitor devices at different branches using the exact same 16 digit community string. They are grouped by which SP we have their data service through. -

Hmmm I was wondering if say you have 2 or 3 NMS that match the same community string as the agent -- would all 2,3 NMS recieve the same data?In Progress: CCNP ROUTE

Its unicast between the hosts.... so as long as the NMS' are allowed to poll or receive traps from the switches... then the switches will generate responses to SNMP Poll or generate traps for all NMS' in the configuration.
The community string is an attempt to have some sort of security for SNMP.
