Hi,

I read through the threads and found a lot of information regarding SSCP materials! But want to get the latest and recommended materials for learning and practicing.

I have the ISC book (Auerbach,Official ISC2 guide to the SSCP CBK 2007) but I can see a newer version for it and the reviews in Amazon are not good for the newer version.
Please assist!

Here are videos that would help with the training. They are put together by Shon Harris. She is one of the leading security experts out there and does a lot of training for teh CISSP as awell. Here is the link: Amazon.com: SSCP Video Course (9780789739902): Shon L. Harris: Books

Here is the link to her site: Systems Security Certified Practitioner, SSCP Training/Course/Certification Exam

I have bought the new book but have not started to read it yet. I also haven't looked at the old book so as far as that goes I can't really give any opinion other than the new book and the videos is what I will be using. Sorry I cant be more help.

The OIG is not the only book the SSCP exam items are drawn from. The recommended reference list is in the SSCP candidate information bulletin. Have a read about it here: The SSCP Certification Experience | TechExams.net Blogs

    Hi JD,

Thanx a lot for the information!
The blog is really good and informative, but it was form 2008 so you don't think that any thing changed since then?

The second edition of their SSCP official book has come out. I'm not sure how much that changes the exam though.

The (ISC)2 exams change gradually over time, rather than stay the same for years and then suddenly get a major overhaul, like CompTIA exams do. Get the new study guide and have a look through the study references in the SSCP CIB and you should do fine. The is SSCP more to the entry-level side than the professional side.
