Best Reflection of actual Test Questions for Sec+

Hi, everyone.

I took Sec+ last semester and was so afraid of failing the test I decided to not take it. Big mistake, I took and passed network+ this Friday on the spur of the moment after a week of Sybex review.

I know I should have taken the test immediately but I did not.

Can anyone tell me what is the best cram for the exam material on the market? Sybex? Exactly what is the best representation of materials covered on the exam.

I am new to cram materials and wanted to have Sybex explained to me. What comes in a cert kit from Sybex etc. I have one from a friend but want to be sure it is what I need to study and take the test this upcoming Tuesday.

I read this in 5 days, spent the weekend doing practice tests and passed the Sec+ exam the next day. You will see that it is one of the most recommended reads for Sec+ on these forums.

I just saw on the link you posted a link to get a kindle app for the ipad. I was first thinking I had to use kindle as I don't have one I was thinking sniff cry cry. I am going to turn on the ipad and try to get the kindle app installed. Thanks for the fast reply.

The kindle edition is what I used. I just used the kindle PC app and read it on the computer. It was easier for me to get away with reading at the office

I and many other people will agree. Darril's book is excellent and all you will need.

My advice is that you study very carefully the cryptography chapter and which algorithms are used by symmetric and asymmetric encryption schemes. Know what key (private or public) is used when sending or decrypting data as well as involved with PKI.

Yes, read Gibson's book once, read chapters 7 (securing networks) and chapter 9 (cryptography) twice and you should be good.

I read the entire book in less than 24 hours OMG thats allot of reading. My head is mush. However I concur the book is phenomenal and the single best study guide or test prep I have ever used. Sadly I have only used 2. I tend to use my classes as the study I require and typically pass. I am very nervous over the sec+ test but am getting more confident as I approach the date. I also found a kindle convertor for the PC but read it off my Ipad anyways. Tired of the laptop on my lap for the last 4 days.

I intended to re-read 4, 6 , 9 I think they gave me the most grief and are rather dry reading.

My hat is off to you Daril what a great book.

I'm with you guys. Daril's book is hands on far better than any of the other material out there. I made the mistake of reading the Sybex book, while it is detailed, informative and thorough, I feel that it incorporates far too much than what is on the test (not to mention dated material to boot!)

Wish I didn't spend the month forcing my way though that and not listening to people on the forums about Daril's book. Though the reading was thorough, I was only hitting around 80% mark with practice exams and other exam material. Daril's book has me up in the 90-95% range.

Two days in and I'm almost done, with my exam scheduled for Saturday.

So yeah, definitely worth the 9.99 on Amazon. Kindle on the PC, iPod and Blackberry for the commute.

I bought the Kindle version as well. I was limited for study time with this certification. I found out about this book when I found this site/forum. Now I'm glad I stumbled upon it. I passed the exam! Great book!
