I'm thinking about doing the 70-646 after I pass the 70-647.

It would be interesting to compare the exam design/layout of the 70-646 to the 70-647 exam.

Let us know how it goes. I am starting to restudy for the 642 (Long story short I slacked off so starting back from beginning) and then moving onto the 646.

Marcels, I did the 646. It was the first MS exam I took - yes, I am insane. I didn't realise it would be 60% testlet scenarios and the remainder being multiple choice. That was on the 10th February (2011).
The testlets really messed me around mentally as there was so much redundant info in them, and yet lacked the info I'd have in the real world from asking certain questions.
Having said all that, the time frame for me was just a single timer for the whole exam. It wasn't broken up with a limited per section time like the new 647.

Yes, the 646 has testlets to my knowledge. Though having completed the 640, 642, and 620 (not required to get SA) I am confident I can get it. Nearly all the exams I've taken I've done well with and I've been studying R2 (along with building R2 servers @ work) to pair it with.

And surprise, I failed. These testlets killed me. I know better than to rush my time. Looks like others did the same.

Good thing I booked a second-shot. Thread still exists to congratulate myself. lol.

Edit: I am running through some of my test material and I guarantee I should of passed. I missed questions I just happened to second guess myself on and did a last minute "oh god oh god" and got it wrong.

DON'T DO THIS. TRUST YOUR GUT.

Not an easy exam this one either. MS are intent on making this as hard as possible. But the only good thing, if we can call this good, is studying for these exams (646 or 647) gives you high-level knowledge and how it all fits in together. The 647 has taught me a lot.
