Banner motd #message# is the command for login banner right?

But what if i want to apply a banner to a vty, say telnet can anybody tell me that command please? as it crops up in the 801.

    I just logged into a cisco router I have here and the help file for banner shows the following entry

    "banner incoming Set incoming terminal line banner"

    sorry I can't give you a definitive answer but it might be worth a google on 'banner incoming'

    change it to banner login# message#

    then set your password and then the command login on the vty lines
