Laptop LCD screen issues. help??
I've been trying to get a compaq presario 2100 laptop to work. The LCD screen was very dim so I changed it out with a different used one - still the same result so I tried another one - still the same. Now when I first turn on the laptop the compaq splash screen comes up and you can see it just fine for a second then it dims. The fn2 key to brighten does nothing. Plugged into a monitor it is the video is fine in the monitor.
Any ideas on this?

Isn't the inverter usually behind the screen bezel? I took it apart at the hinges and replaced the whole top half... -

Some LCD screens have the inverter board attached to the bottom. This link shows a picture of it:
New LCD Inverter For Compaq Presario 2100 2200 2500 Series Laptop display -- For 14.1-inch or 15-inch LCD displays
Did the used LCD you purchased include that part? If not, that may be your problem. -

We had some old used ones in the back and you can take those compaq's apart at the hinges without ever taking the bezel apart. I think it was just a loose wire it's working now. Thanks!
