I am going to start studying for MCITP so I got the

"MCITP Self-Paced Training Kit (Exams 70-640, 70-642, 70-646): Server Administrator Core Requirements (PRO-Certification) [Paperback]"

However, I am wondering which book to start with? Or does it matter?

My track was: 70-640, 70-642, my 646 exam is this Wednesday.

When studying for my 646, I am finding all of the exam material from 640 and 642 are bundled together into scenario questions. I found it easier this way.

640 has no substantial material from 642 and 642 has material from 640. 646 has material from both.

    So: 640>642>646.
    Done:
MCITP: Server Administrator, MCTS: Windows Vista
    To Go: 70-643, 70-647
Further Certs: Exchange Administrator 2010, CCNA

    Reading: Server 2008 R2 Unleashed/Sybex/CBT Videos

Just don't forget to supplement in R2 material as the tests have been updated.

If you have a good networking background, you might find it easier to skim over the 642 first, then ease yourself into 640 slowly so that you pick up what there is in AD. Then go over 640 again!
This is just my experience as I've far more network experience than day-to-day with servers, so your journey will probably be different. I found the 642 easier than the 640 because of this.

Just take your time reading through the stickies and other threads here and you'll find a wealth of info. The folks here know their stuff. And lastly, best wishes on the road to certdom

All of the books that are currently out do not include 2008 R2 content, which the exams have been updated with said content. That means you have to either:

    A. Wait until the books come out (which I believe some are slated for this month) which include R2 content
    B. Supplement with links in the stickies for the exams, technet, etc.

Otherwise you will be unprepared for the exam unless you are already quite familiar with the new features of 2008 R2.
