Can this book be used the primary book to study from or is it better as just a supplemental review guide?

AFAIK, there is no book that has complete coverage of all the exam objectives for R2, but this one seems like a decent resource. I will probably purchase this one even though I have no plans for taking 2008 R2 exams in near future. I would definitely get a second or maybe even a third resource if I were to prepare to take an exam though.

Anyone know if the practice test questions and flash cards are available as a download or something if you buy the Kindle version? I asked Amazon support last night and they said they didn't know.

Damm, I just picked this book up from a certain large book retailer who is going under in Aus. I much prefer an ebook version. So much lighter than lugging around a 1000+ page book everyday. :D

    oh well.

FYI-- I just took a test a few days ago and it had a score on it still.

Books24x7 -- can you download the book from there? I have access, but I thought you only can read from there?

It depends on your account. I can download up to 15 chapters with my work account but I cant download any with my school account [WGU].

If you purchase the pdf version of this text do you get the practice tests and other content from the CD?

I purchased this product at no small price. I am extremely disappointed that there is no ebook included as is normal. I contacted Wiley who pointed me to a site where I could buy the ebook. The reason I originally bought the physical book was to get the accompanying CD. So now it looks like I will have to fork out the same money again to get the PDF version. I am not happy!

Anyone had much luck reading just this and passing one of the Microsoft exams? I bought it but it looks similar to the Sybex CCNP Advanced Internetworking Guide, which grazes every topic and a great primer for the CCNPv5 but won't help in passing any of the last generation exams.

I would not use this book as a sole source for these exams. I have been reading through it. While it does cover some material that M$ doesn't, the lab exercises are very basic and you definitely need hands-on for this exam. I've read through the MS press 640, Sybex, and am finishing up the Server 2008 R2 unleashed book. A lot of reading, but all those books covered the exam objectives well.
