Books??

in CCNA & CCENT
hey guys,
I recently bought the Todd Lammley 6th edition CCNA 640-802 book with the CCNA portable command guide 2nd edition by Scott Empson. Now I have been hearing good things here about this Amazon.com: CCNA Official Exam Certification Library (Exam 640-802), Third Edition (Containing ICND1 and ICND2 Second Edition Exam Certification Guides) (9781587201837): Wendell Odom: Books I really want to be ready for this exam as i will be taking the two test and build my own home lab. Any thoughts on how the Odom books are?
Thanks for the help.

Wendell Odom's books are fantastic, in my opinion. Then again, Todd Lammle's books are right up there with Odom's. The general breakdown tends to be that Odom's books are a bit more in-depth and technical, while Lammle's approach is a bit easier for Cisco newbies to digest since it's a little less dry. They both teach the same material, just from different ends of the learning-spectrum.
Since you're coming from the Network+, I'd say you're going to be fine either way. Start with Lammle's book, since you already have it, and work your way through it. If you find that you're not doing well on practice exams or there are things that are unclear, consider picking up the Odom books. . . or, better yet, have a look at some video training, like CBT Nuggets.
Good luck with your studies.

If you want to be prepared, I absolutely recommend the Cisco Press book you linked. The Sybex stuff is well written and Todd is a great writer but they sometimes are missing the "bulk boring detail" that the Cisco Press has. -

Thanks again.
The first is missing the power adapter (which often sell for nearly what the router costs) and does not give any indication how much RAM and Flash is in it. The second tells you that there is too little RAM in it. I would pass on both.
