on the upswing?

Does anyone think that IT is on the upswing or is that just what the reports are saying? I actually think it is going to do even better than they are saying but curious what everyone else thinks

I despise articles talking about how there will be more/less jobs in I.T. These wannabe journalists need to leave us alone.

If you like I.T. and you're good at it you can probably find a job in I.T. icon_wink.gif

I've heard too many of the elderly talk about how they wish they had done more what they wanted to do in their life and less what society pushed them to do.

Actually a lot of articles indicate the IT industry growing. There are countless articles of the rise in IT positions, many have been posted on here , you should see them something like "top ten, careers" or "TOP Ten tech positions." I know 3 to have been posted within the past 6 to 8 months.

There are also articles on the emergence of the next "internet boom," this is a serious prediction that within the next 2 years a new internet boom will emerge. There is also a current cnn.com article stating the huge boom in IT jobs in california, mainly san jose/palo alto.

not to be one of those posters that just speaks with no links or evidence , here is one such link icon_thumright.gifSilicon Valley experiencing new hiring boom - CNN.com

I always read on how the economy gets a big lift in the stock market when the IT sector is doing good. The future looks bright for us, there is no other direction but UP when you are at the bottom!

Around here they are saying we are having an economic boom (again) and that there is a skills shortage. In the vacancies, there seems to be a lot job for project managers and technical architects, but not alot for the support services / implementers.

I've noticed a lot more higher level job postings within 50 miles of where I live. This time last year, postings were quite scarce. To be honest, I've seen more in the past couple months than I have in the past couple years...not sure if that's indicative of a surge in IT jobs, or just jobs in my area.

For what it's worth, I also live in a horrible area to find worthwhile, high level IT jobs.

I was reading in the WSJ last month that hiring is up but the problem is companies dumped people and still reached goals and profits. So they adapted to making do with less but cannot grow when demand starts to increase again. So hiring is slower than normal but going up just not fast enough.

I never really saw the job market depressed in my area. I got a new job and a raise during the recession.

I've been seeing open positions in every email from careerbuilder and monster for the past year.

I don't know if its on the upswing or I just have more experience on my resume now +certs but I get at least 4 calls a week for Cisco related jobs, a lot of those I take with a grain of salt because I think some recruiters just try and get as many resumes as they can for 1 position.

I like to browse listings just to see what's out there. Compared to this time last year I'm seeing a whole bunch of listings day to day that I am qualified for as compared to last year where I sometimes had to apply to jobs I knew I wasn't qualified for but was pretty much just trying my luck.

Market has been chilling around 12000 for 3-4 month maybe longer. Let's hopes this continues trending.
