Hey everyone
I came across abit of problem im trying to setup a third level domain in lab environment but i get the following error when I come to finalize the installation process in dcpromo
"You have not supplied credentials that belong to the Enterprise Admins Group. The Installation may fail with an access denied error.Do you want to continue" when i do continue it gives me a dialog box half way through asking for credentials.
When I setup the third level domain this are the steps I took:
1.create a new domain in a existing forest.
Then in the second section at the top where it says "Type the name of any domain in the forest where you plan to install this domain controller I typed Sydney.abc.com
then underneath credentials I used the Enterprise Administrator user account and password then in the next screen for the FQDN of the parent domain I typed sydney.abc.com and underneath single label DNS name of child domain I typed just east after I did that it automatically had east.sydney.abc.com for the FQDN of the new child domain.
After I did all those steps thats when I get that Warning Message I just click continue then I just choose the site and tick the box for global catalog and directory services restore mode then I proceed to installation after that mid way through the installation it gives me the credentials box as you would get from joing a member server or client to the domain.
This is my lab setup just incase if it would help you guys:
abc.com (Setup Successful)
IP: 192.168.1.7
SM: 255.255.255.0
DG: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.7
sydney.abc.com (Setup Successful)
IP:192.168.1.9
SM: 255.255.255.0
DG: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.7
east.sydney.abc.com
IP:192.168.1.14
SM: 255.255.255.0
DG: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.9
I have looked for a few hours in google but couldnt find anything related to what im getting but if anyone can tell me where im going wrong and give me some hints I would really appreciate it.
Last time I did this was about 1 year ago and it worked perfectly i dont know why its not working now
Thanks.

spd3432 Member Posts: 224If the IP info you gave is correct, might be the DNS IP you have listed for the server you're installing in east.sydney.abc.com. You have 192.168.1.9 for that server but are using 192.168.1.7 for the others. It may not be able to find the root of the forest.----CCNP goal----

I even tried using the 192.168.1.7 but still prompts me for the same question. -
sina2011 Member Posts: 239 ■□□□□□□□□□Hey everyone just an update:
I figured it out the DNS settings for east.sydney.abc.com was correct where I went wrong was at the setup process underneath setup 1 end of the sentence where it says
"Type the name of any domain in the forest where you plan to install this domain controller I typed Sydney.abc.com" I should of typed abc.com instead.
Thanks. -
spd3432 Member Posts: 224Good to see you figured it out. I just finished setting up the same 3-tier domain structure and rolled right past that screen (must have guessed right). Perhaps a "help" question mark from Microsoft on that screen of the setup wizard to make it more clear what is meant by "domain in the forest". Either that or changing it to "Type the name of the forest root domain" since you get to choose where to stick the new domain on the next screen that comes up.
