Hyper-v issues : hypervisor is not running

So folks I had just Windows 7 running on my machine when I decided to install Windows Server 2008 R2 in a dual boot scenario. But I cannot launch any VM's, throws me an error saying hypervisor is not running. I have ensured that the hypervisor is set to autostart in the bcd store.
Before I installed Server 2008 R2 I am pretty confident Windows 7 reported that my e6500 processor supported hardware DEP (which of course is one of the pre-requisites for Hyper-v). After installing 2008, Windows 7 too is saying my processor doesn't support hardware DEP (2008 also says the same). Would anyone know why, or am I just dreaming about Windows 7 saying it did?
Thanks.

All in all:
Security > Execute Disable (set to On)
Performance > Virtualization (set to On)
Performance > VT for Direct I/O Access (set to On)
Performance > Trusted Execution (set to Off)My own knowledge base made public: http://open902.com -

I had been thinking of it all along, and looked up on asus.com (which is slowwww btw) and there was an update 0805 that stated it fixed CPU VT-x failure issues. I didnt raise my hopes too much just then and flashed the BIOS anyway. Lo and behold, Hyper-v is golden...!!
In this process I also learnt that Vanderpool technology was the original name of VT-x, for any one that has this problem, ensure this is enabled (it was, in my case).
Thanks guys!
