Redistributing RIP and OSPF

I can't really understand it anywhere, I'm doing Routing and Internetworks at the moment at uni, and the case study has a boundary router OSPF connected to a RIPv2 router

I've read the course material and no where does it say how to redistribute and its commands.. am I looking in the wrong place?
Also i've read some of the threads on redistributing here but that did not help much.

I might be wrong on this so don't take it for 100%

For OSPF i think what you might be looking for is the command default-information originate what it does it takes static and default routes it knows and shares it to it's OSPF neighbors (might do RIP im not sure).

The command for RIPv2 and EIGRP is actually redistribute =P.
for example if you want to redistribute static routes from RIP or EIGRP you use

Redistribute Static

If i understand what your asking you are trying to get a OSPF area border router to communicate with a router using RIPv2.
My idea would be to set them both up and create a static route inbetween and use the commands above to distribute the info to each side.

This is what i'm currently studying for my ICND2

If you do mutual redistribution and you have more than 1 link, i'd suggest you check about the Distance ospf external command in the 2nd link

No that is not correct. The default-originate command allows that router to advertise a default route if it already has one in its table (and there are other options). You still need to use the redistribute command for statics routes like with RIP, EIGRP etc.

I almost had it working!
but the problem now is...
i have 10.0.0.0/28 as ISP router connecting to the OSPF network
whilst the RipV2 router has 10.0.0.0/24

if there is no connection between the internet and OSPF network
works fine, however with the ISP being /30 because of the serial like right it is all sent up to ISP....

Redistribution isn't all that hard. Take this as an example:

router rip
version 2
network 10.10.0.0
redistribute ospf 1 metric 2

router ospf 1
network 5.5.5.5 0.0.0.255 area 0
redistribute rip subnets
