Switchport

in CCNA & CCENT
what does the command "switchport port-security" do when typed in interface mode without any other parameters?
Is this necessary to enable port-security or can you just type the command with the parameters and not include "switchport port-security"

You must type the command as required by the IOS. You can abbreviates the command like any other command but you can't leave out the switchport keyword.
