hi guys, i've been searching for a good 24 ports switch for my ESXi lab (expanding my lab with 3 i7-2600 system in the up coming weeks. Currently using 2 AMD quads). I've been reading up and narrowed it down to the HP 1810 and the DELL 2824
HP : Newegg.com - HP ProCurve J9450A#ABA 10/100/1000Mbps Switch 24 x RJ45 + 2 x SFP 8K MAC Address Table RAM : 16 MB SDRAM Flash Memory : 8 MB Buffer Memory
pro: fanless
con: expensive
Dell: PowerConnect 2824 Switch Details | Dell
pro: cheaper than the HP
con: heard it has a single fan not sure how low it is. Can anyone confirm this?
So this is where I'm at. Any of you guys have experience deploying those 2 switches or use them in your lab set up? Please share your finding

azjag Member Posts: 579 ■■■■■■■□□□I have the 3524 in my lab. I don't know if you shop ebay but I got mine for $160, nothing wrong with it just used and still in warranty. The 2824's have a fan but that would be drowned out with the servers running near by. I don't notice the ones on mine. Good luck hunting.Currently Studying:
