Upgrade to 12.4 IOS

in CCNA & CCENT
I'm looking at getting a 2600 router from Ebay, and it comes with 12.3.
What is the cost and and where does one go to get a copy of 12.4??
Or am I better off buying one that comes with 12.4?
Thanks for the help!

Only the XM models for the 2600 support 12.4 and you have to have a valid Cisco account to download IOS.

To setup up an account, can I do it as an individual or does it need to go through a company??
This if for my own personal labThis is the end and the beginning -

It would be cheaper to buy a router with the appropriate IOS on it. Since the 2600s are EOL you wouldn't be able to cover them under SmartNet anyway. -

The oldest cheapest routers have been End of Life for years and years and years and you won't be able to get a SmartNet support contract for them. And as of January Cisco was reportedly planning to track and possibly limit downloads to images that you did have a smartnet contract for.:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set!
