I have it scheduled of this Saturday 6-18. I have been studing for about 3 months using the MS Press book and watching the videos on Professor Messer, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Nework+, Microsoft Certification Training, I am nervous about the new format for this exam. I will let you know how i do.

    The main advice I would give is to know your command line commands. There seemed to be a number of different command line responses and some of the commands seemed to be very obscure. There was some overlap with your Server 2003 and 2008 studying, so you should do fine. Just be sure to go through each domain and make sure you know the info for each domain.

    Also, check the errata for the MS Press book. It had quite a few errors.

    Good luck.

    There is a new format? I just took the test maybe a week ago, and it was multichoice??

    Good luck!

    That is good to hear, I thought that along with 647 they changed the format of this exam.

    It was 50 questions multiple choice with either one or multiple answers.

    icon_king.gif Right.

    Edit: Professor Messor is great, I really enjoyed his video learning.

    +1 to that. Free via youtube or his site. Although he did make a minor mistake talking about the effective permissions tab (I think it was lesson 5) saying that it evaluated both NTFS and Share permissions when it only looks at NTFS permissions. But easily forgiven :)

    Well, I failed, I got a 664. The only sections I need to work on are Monitoring and Maintaining Systems that run Windows 7, and Configuring Access to Resources. I will schedule my free retake for next week. I hope there are enough slots open since the month is coming to an end and everyone is trying to get their test scheduled.

    I have my free retake scheduled for Jun 30. That should be plenty of time to work on Monitoring and Maintaining Systems that run Windows 7.

    Well I failed with the same score as the first time. This time I had 65 questions, this test was very different than the first one. You would think with the extra questions I would have had a better chance to pass but no. All the bars are better than half but I guess that is not enough. I will take it again in the next couple of weeks.

    Keep plugging away. In the areas that you need to improve....LAB, LAB, LAB, and then do some more labs.

    You will get it!!
    WGU - MBA: I.T. Management --> Graduated!!

    WGU -
    B.S. Information Technology—Network Administration --> Graduated!!

    My advice is to do practice test(s?) until remembering all questions. Though in that phase tests doesn't measure level of knowledge anymore but still work well as a learning tool.
    Then all topics are covered and tested. Questions in exam are different of course but probably quite similar in their nature.. and how different those can be? I have seen some questions in real exam that has been included to Measure Up practice test. That same which came with the MS Press book. :D

    I usually use learning mode and read all answers before moving to next question.

    From real life perspective doing labs is the ultimate solution but when there is limited amount of time and you want to pass an exam quickly, lab experimentation is a bit too slow method, IMHO...

    My tactic is to combine all possible learning methods together. Reading MS Press books, doing labs, using practice tests and finally when i have studied my brains out -watching video lectures because it's something i can still do when i can't focus on reading anymore. :D
