any recommendations as to what setup i need to get to practise the configuration of labs for the exam?
Currently got 3 x 2950 switches, but i belive i will need a layer 3 switch too something like the 3550? will i need anything else too?

    Congrats on the pass! A pass is a pass. I'm getting ready to start studying for the CCNP route exam in about a month. What testing material did you use? Did you use real routers or GNS3? I'm just wondering what I need to get in order to prepare for the route exam. I have a 2610XM and a 2612 and I'm planning on buying a 2611XM. Is that enough, or do I need more than three routers?

    Awesome achievement. Got any tips for those of us still on the journey to ROUTE?

    I think “very senior” gets stuck in there because the last six yahoos that applied for the position couldn’t tell a packet from a Snickers bar.

    I used CBT Nuggets (Jeremy is a legend!!!), Cisco press offical and foundation guides. i'd say the foundation learning guide was much better, easier to read!
    and i used GNS3 for labbin, worked throught the ones with cbtnuggets.

    Now on to switch!

    I usually hang out on 224.0.0.10 (FF02::A) and 224.0.0.5 (FF02::5) when I'm in a non-proprietary mood.

    What did you use for labs?

    I used GNS3 with a 3600 series router IOS image, and just labbed the cbt nuggets videos as he did them, then again on my own to make them stick.

    now i need to find myself some real layer 3 switches icon_sad.gif

    There's another free lab that just recently started, I forgot the name I was checking it a while ago, it was started by one of the members here.

    I highly suggest having your own lab though, especially going for pro level certifications.
