I can say that living in a town in Wyoming finding a job in IT was one of the most difficult things I've had to endure. Having to get through that stereotype of being a 'kid' and having to show value that they couldn't find in what they usually look for here(always very old people they hire, they prefer age over ambition about 90% of the time here.) was ridiculous but I finally landed an incredible job here.

Yeah. I went from that to a minimum wage retail job when I moved. It was only $9 an hour but they gave $1 per car washed and a very generous bonus for every month when you don't crash a car. 10 years later and a lot of the same guys are still there but none of them spoke English so I can see how it would be hard to want to bother finding another job.

And that's where I'm at now...I entered the "professional" workforce at an odd time around 2007...I was lucky to get a job right before sh*t hit the fan, but being as I did IT in higher ed., the sh*t kinda just splatted around the room and is slowly running down the walls since ALL universities were in budget crisis mode...I had to jump ship and make a move for me to make up for lost time, experience-wise.

Since starting the private sector sys admin position in June, I've earned 4 linux certs and have worked on 2 major projects, with more shaping up every month. I'm learning every day and I love it
