CCNA:Cleared, CCNP Switch - Home LAB Help!
Hello guys, I just cleared CCNA and I am ready to go for CCNP.
I am thinking of building a Decent Home LAB.
So far I am thinking I should get:
2 x L3 Switches: C3550 48 Port SMI w/ EMI Image
2 x L2 C2950 24 to 48 port Switches.
I currently have C2950 + 2 x 3548 XL ( <-- CRAP? )
Please Advise.
In terms of Routing, I have 3 C2500 Series and a C2522 for Frame Replay. But once I finish Switching I will move on to Routing.
I will most likely use GNS3.

spicy ahi Member Posts: 413 ■■□□□□□□□□I've had to put my CCNP studies on hold a bit (some job cert requirements came up that I have to take care of first) but I currently have 2 3550's with EMI (1 EMI, one SMI which *sssssshhhhhh* has an EMI image from... somewhere...) and 2 24 port 2950's
Anyway, I know there are a few subjects not covered with the 3550's (private VLANs come to mind) but in my case, I got permission from my logistics administrator to "borrow" the 3750's at work that we have on the shelf that we keep on hand for hot-swapping of switches in remote sites provided I keep them updated with the most current configs of the remote sites. (A steal of a deal for me!)
Now to get this pesky MCSA and MCITP: SA certs out of the way so I can get back to the CCNP!!!Spicy  Mentor the future! Be a CyberPatriot! -

Yes 2 x 2950 and 2 x 3550 should do for CCNP. At least that's the advice I got in my previous thread where I asked a similar question. -
Ryuksapple84 Member Posts: 183For the CCNP, I built my lab like this... piece by piece over a course of 2 years.
5 - 2610XM (got a great deal on Ebay at the time for like $450 with shipping)
2 - 2621XM (because of the dual Fast Ethernet interfaces)
2 - 2620XM
2 - 3550
2 - 2950C
2 - 3548XL
1 - 2500 Series (Frame Relay Switch)
1 - ASA 5505 (For Security CCNP- Security...)
All my Routers have WIC1T cards as well so I can simulate eBGP over Serial along with Frame Relay and iBGP over ethernet. The 2 - 2621XMs I got so I can simulate HSRP for the exam.Eating humble pie.
