Todd Lammle CCNA deluxe edition

I am currently reading Lammle's 640-801 deluxe edition book.

I understand I will be taking the 802 exam. Are there any major red flags to this?

Yes it's not the current edition of the exam. The Bryant Advantage has a page about the 640-801 exam. You should really get the latest edition as you will either fail or just double your effort having to read the latest edition as well.

does anybody know the difference between Lammle's 6th edition and 7th edition?

Supposedly there was a refresh of the exam and the 7th edition covers that refresh. But instant000 used the 6th edition to pass and that's what i'm using for ICND2 too.

The difference between E 6 and 7 is very subtle. In 6th, he shows us how to config something in SDM each chapter. Thats taken out in 7th thus making it a lot shorter to read. I noticed a lot of the WAN stuff like DSL and Cable is taken out as well

I just got Lammle's Deluxe Edition - 6th Edition. On the cover it says "Reivesed and Updated for 2011!"

So is this book current or should I have bought something else???

IIRC, his deluxe editions are one revision number behind the standard edition. So that should be the current one.

Yes, the Deluxe edition started with my "standard 2nd edition", so the Deluxe is always one behind.

There are MANY differences between the 6th edition and the 7th edition, besides moving SDM to the CD.

As shown in the thread, I have listed out a lot of differences on my forum, just go to that link or to the announcement page of www.lammle.com/forum.

I have my errata as well as dynamic updates for the newest CCNA objectives, and I am posting a new update for the objectives today.

The new exam is much, much harder than it was last year and you must really get hands-on. I provided 15 different simulation practice exams on the CD, and if you email me at todd@lammle.com with your receipt of the 7th edition, I will email you back a lot of bonus material to use with your studies.
