So it seems like metasploitable is the only major vulnerable windows installation. I was wondering if anyone has heard of any thing based off of windows 7 or windows server 2008 (r2).

You can always build out an old install of Windows XP Service Pack1 and have a blast with all kinds of vulnerabilities. Build it out within VirtualBox or VMWare. Dont update the service packs and take a snapshot of it just after you get it installed. You can then do pentesting with it. Patch it - pentest it again. Since you have taken a snapshot, you can always then roll it back. I have a few copies I have bought off ebay that I still have lying around. It's great to do demos with to illustrate different vulnerabilities. You'd also be surprises at how many instances are still around today. maybe not as much as SP1 but plenty of SP2 with their share of vulnerabilities.
