Thanks for the write-up Scott. I've found that through my studies for VCP that I sometimes take the topics deeper than I probably should but I think overall it might help me in the long run as I plan to sit for this exam eventually. I've heard it and it's brother are beasts of tests. There's a reason why there's less than 300 so far. Good luck with your results, I'm sure you did fine.

Congrats. I'm looking at the VCAP-DCA and wondering if it's worth the time and effort, did your employer pay for any of the training courses or did you do most of your training in a lab?

Does VMware publish this information? I'm curious how many VCP's there are as well.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

They don't publicly post it. Scott has a post on his blog from Feb 2010 and there were 53k certified individuals and 15k VCP4's at that time.

The last VCAP-DCD number I've seen is low 300's and I believe the VCAP-DCA's are a bit below that.

Thanks for the writeup Scott. Once I get my current exam workload finished up I'm planning to circle back around and work on DCA.
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

Yeah I agree. I want to be over-prepared as much as possible really. Besides who wants just cursory knowledge anyway :D

    Thanks,

The number I got was from an AndreTheGiant post on the VMware forums. This was back in April though and the number was around 250. Probably more than that now I would think.
