Fan part# from CLI

xenodamusxenodamus Member Posts: 758
I've got a 2800 series with a bad fan and my tech at Cisco asked me to verify the part number of the fan from my log messages.

Well, it ain't in the log....and I haven't found any command that shows it either. I've emailed them back and am waiting for a response. Anyone know where that info is?

    Her response:

"If the device is Cisco-2811, then the part id is ACS-2821-51-FANS= because
it is the only part id of the fan for this device."

Then why the !#$% did you ask me to verify the part ID in the first place?

Seems a reasonable enough request. The fan could have been changed at some point with a 3rd party part. I'll still verify with clients, even though I know the response they'll give. Nothing worse then assuming one thing, then find it's a different version/part. Techs dealing with other techs is always interesting. We get annoyed at the obvious questions they need to ask icon_razz.gif

Some of the larger chassis units do have multiple fan units of varying types and can be queried by software.
