If IT wasn't an option for a career, what would you like to do?

There were several options that I was looking into:

    1. Cop (transport or K9 division), as my dad use to be one.
    2. Nurse, as I use to be a carer
    3. Martial Arts instructor (reached rank of 2nd Dan, but then damaged my knee).
    4. Engineer - this was the one I was strongly considering just before I decided to concentrate on IT, electrial engineering.

I would probably be in the union for electrician or one of the union jobs.

In high school and when I first went to college I was very interested in Psychology and Journalism. I had a hard time making it to class back then so those didn't work out though I think I would have enjoyed being a writer or psychologist. At times I also thought about going into teaching. I was also a pretty good cook during my years working in restaurants and considered going to culinary arts school to become a chef. So, perhaps one of those careers had things gone differently but I really enjoy working in IT.

I was just thinking about this last night. I think I would move to Alaska and try to be a trooper there. Looks like fantastic work.

Airline pilot, I might just still do that too. Have you seen the job forecasts for them?!

If I were not working in IT I would be working in Real Estate. Either for a commercial RE or development firm, builder, Realtor. I've got my license and have a company that I formed. Just waiting for the opportunity to start doing some projects alongside my IT job.

Photographer or SCUBA diver. I have done law enforcement and it's not worth considering as a job. You just lose too much and get very little with the culture that exists today in law enforcement agencies.

I would have gotten into Marketing. That industry is worth over 400 billion dollars and quite honestly I been told I have a really good way to selling products / advertising them. With that in mind I would have gone down that road and try to work with some big corporations.

Law Enforcement most likely. I started out working on an AS in Criminal Justice until I decided to move over to IT. It's also in my blood, since both of my parents are police officers.

I briefly considered culinary school about 10 years ago. I realized I really enjoy cooking, why would I ruin it by making a career out of it. icon_lol.gif

I would have most definitely be in the Military - Royal Marines to be exact.

I originally joined when I was 20, got through the selection process, passed the 3 day pre-royal marines course (PRMC) and began training. Got to week 16 (out of 32), found out my dad was terribly ill (living in the US), I had to do a leave of absence, coming over to the US to help out my mum, ran out of money and was unable to return to the UK.
    2017 Certification Goals:
    CCNP R/S
