problem with WS-3550-24-FX-SMI

Hi guys. I have 2x WS-C2950-24, a 1x WS-C2550-24 and I just got WS-3550-24-FX-SMI. The problem is I cannot connect the FX to my 3550 and 2950. I read a few threads that and concluded that if I got CISCO 1000BASE-T GBIC WS-G5483 it would solve the problem. I also read that the GBIC is only working at 1000Mbps and cannot be downshifted to 100Mbps. In that case could I connect it to a regular 100Mbps port on my 2950 or 3550 ?
