hey guys do you know of any good tone generator for patch panel rooms.
I mean we have one that is very weak. It is a pro3000 Fluke cheapo!
and it only tests for continuity. you have to unplug the patch cable from the socket and then test to find the matching patch panel socket. I am looking for a great tone generator to just touch the cat5 patch panel cables to detect the correct wire. I plan labeling our patch panel and it is a bear to find wires that are done wrong and I had seen the ISP guys wipe their device across the patch panels and bam found the exact wire. I havent seen these guys in a while and wanted to know if you guys could recommend a strong tone generator for patch panels. Taking each patch panel out to check tone defeats the purpose of convenience when I know there are tone generators that can break thru a cat 5 cable I have seen them do it while wiping the genertor accross the cat 5 patch panels cables to detect the correct tone...when they come I will ask them but do you guys recommend any tone generators? thanks
