How much and how in depth is the frame relay portion of the CCNA now? Is it worth spending countless hours of lab time or can you pick up enough from the texts? Thanks.

I personally spent a decent amount of time on WAN in general. Some say it's one of the harder portions of the test, next to the infamous NAT/ACL portion.

    There is quite a lot.

You need to understand the different topolgies i.e NBMA and Point to point / point to multi point. Understand why they are there and what effect this as with regards to IP addressing, routing and the layer 3 to layer 2 mapping and encapsulation process. Knowing silly stuff like 2 frame types and 3 lmi types comes up too. Oh BECN,FECN and DE bits!
