Hey all,

Looking for some advice on building a lab. I'm working through the Juniper SEC track at the moment. I have access to the following equipment through work:

2 x EX4200
IDP250
J4350
SA2500
2 x SRX240

The JNCIS-SEC/JNCIP-SEC both show objectives around the SRX UTM features, IPS, and High availability. The JNCIE-SEC doesn't show/tell how many devices are part of the exam. The bootcamp won't be out for a few months still but I'm trying to prepare now.

Any advice or additional hardware I should get my hands on?

When reviewing the exam description Junos Security Certification Track - Juniper Networks the following statement sticks out.

... candidates will build a secure enterprise network consisting of multiple firewall devices interconnected via IPSec VPNs.

Sooo, it's a pretty safe bet that the firewall devices they are talking about aren't SSGs or anything that runs Netscreen software. This boils it down to SRX devices.

There might be other devices involved, I'm not absolutely sure, but my current home lab that I'm using to study has about 8 or so SRX boxes.

8 srx boxes?! Haha no fair

I will have to start building up the number of devices then so I can build a more robust topology. I have heard that its possible to run multiple routing instances to use a single srx box for multiple purposes (vpn connections, dynamic routing, etc.)...does that help for labs?

Virtual routers are very limited. Check out the http://www.techexams.net/forums/juniper-certifications/67824-srx100s-home-lab.html thread if you haven't done so already.

But suffice it to say that it won't be much help to configure VRs to expand your topology.
