I'm targeting anywhere between Dec 2011 and Mar 2012 at the latest.

Looks like March to Sept in 2012 could be a big time for TE members sitting the lab. Hope everyone sticks with it!!

I think we have 4, maybe 5 TE candidates that have a shout at makiing CCIE next year. Drop me a PM so we can chat offline. The rest of you will need to study through 2012 and pass 2013. A bitter pill to swallow I know but that's the reality of things. You *must* keep your blogs running through 2012. Be aware that time to complete, is not *ability* to complete. With no ability, you cant complete. With ability, you need time to complete.

One or two Cisco employees on the forum, but they are lost *keeping it all going*, so too busy to study on the works dollar to become CCIE's, and will have to kill themselves on personal time to complete this track.

Just to comfort you all, there are other people who work for Cisco who will have plenty of time, and I mean *plenty* of time to study for the CCIE. I met one three months ago at UK Cisco HQ when we were evaluating VSS which she obviously didnt understand.. She didn't know how to clear a mac cache. But she wouldn't because shes never supported a live infrastructure! She's no doubt a CCIE by now...

    Life isn't fair. Too bad.

ah i see. thanks for clearing that up.

Dont do the CCIE for the riches, that phase ended in 2003.

If a company needs more CCIE's to get Cisco Gold Partner status they will hire someone from China. Low wage. They might not do a single bit of network design or even speak good English but they are on the books as the 4 CCIE's you need to be gold. Cool.

So no chance of getting rich by being a western CCIE.

    So what is left?

Well we need a western CCIE that can handle stuff. Expect pressure. At that the end of the day *someone* has to know their stuff to keep boxes turning and burning. You will be well paid, but you better be good, and dont expect any help.

Checking in for Utah, USA. Targeting Aug 2012 here.

You need to get a thread going with your study hours going for written and lab.

    I agree.

We will have 2-4 TE members making CCIE in 2012. The rest will be 2013 or fade away permanently due to work pressure, women,WoW.

Contact me offline. Special forces only. We will make it. The rest will not.

Tryng to work out if this is a joke, or why such cynicism has crept into the thread.
We responded to the Year 2000 issue with "Y2K" solutions...isn't this the kind of thinking that got us into trouble in the first place?

Not a joke or cynicism. It's a call to arms because it's a demanding track in terms of personal time to study if one has very little bandwidth on workstime to prepare properly for the exam.
