I'm pleased to introduce to you the new TE! Took a "tad" longer than expected, which was expected but it took even longer than that.

This upgrade was what we internally refer to as phase one of TEv4 and besides a major forum upgrade provides us with a better system for integrating additional features. Phase two will be spread out over the next several weeks and includes integrated blogs, a new test engine (including new practice exams) and more.

The forum upgrade by itself introduces a whole bunch of new features of which I will list some of the imo best:

- Much better editor (box I'm typing in now) that amongst many other things supports an auto-save draft feature.

- Notifications menu (top right of page, the counter) - Although it was available for our forums earlier, if you use Google+ you'll find it very familiar. Currently notifies you of new PMs, new rep, and friend requests. I'll add more in the future, perhaps when you get a reply to a subscribed thread.

- Better search - Not directly something you'll notice, but once we finish phase 2 of the upgrade you'll be able to search blogs, articles/TechNotes, and the forums in one search. [Search tables are still rebuilding, so results are incomplete for a while]

- New Mobile Style - A new mobile theme that supports iPhones and Androids, and soon other mobile browsers. There's an update coming that fixes a whopping 122 bugs so consider this one in a test phase.

There are still several things I need to do to but they don't require the forums to be closed. That includes some cosmetic changes as well but if you notice something unworkable or simply not functioning please let me know (either by posting here or PM-ing me). I hope you like the new design! Still needs some tweaking (including some font size changes) which I'll do this weekend.

Several maintenance routines and cache rebuilding might cause the site to respond slower than usual. I'm keeping a close eye on the server and we may have some additional down time during the weekend.

Speaking of new post feature - SEO doesn't seem to work properly (or the email notification phrase)...

i dont know if you could do it but on the mobile version make it where i can condense the forum sections i dont read

and the ability to quote reply from the mobile site would be great as well

any thought of adding a paypal link to the site for donations?

This weekend I'm going to install the mobile style update I mentioned earlier and if these features still aren't available by default I'll add them somehow. Especially the category collapse option is really a "missing feature".

That works for me. Oh wait, are you getting the advanced mobile style (header/logo has blue background) or the lightweight simple style (white header background, logo with shadow)? What device+browser are you using?

Thanks for the feedback/suggestions. I added a link to our Support Us page to the footer below which includes the donate option. I've used previous donations for software licenses/upgrades and I'll use future donations for the mobile "app" (droid and iOS, it'll fit in my budget in a couple of months regardless).

Ok, the upcoming update includes support for more mobile browsers and does include fixing a bug that causes the reply with quote to simply not work at all and although that was on an iPod I hope that'll solve that issue for others too.

Minor bug I thought you would like to see. (Not picking, I like the new site. Just providing feedback)

The add wants to continue going and overlaps with the right side column.

Edit: It isn't letting me add the image. I add it and the progress bar completes, but there doesn't seem to be an option to ok.

The page I was referring to was the Track Messages page and it seems to still be an issue. It might only be affecting me because I don't have the window maximized.

Oh... I just noticed on a different yet similar page, thanks again, should be fixed shortly.

As I thought, it is resolved by maximizing the window. There just isn't enough space to display it properly so it runs over instead of wrapping around.

It should actually be fixed/no longer there, may have to refresh. Edit: nvm, I see the second part of the issue now.

Server just had a hick-up, if you noticed a db error it's because I had to do a quick restart of the db server. I apologize for any inconvenience (I see it saved my post ) and looking into now.

When I click on a thread, it does not 50% of the time load the page, I get the rotating symbol for quite some time, then
when I press "back" it sends me to the main forum list (not the sub forum I was on when I clicked a specific thread)

Yes, made sense, I "had" the same problem and it seems to be a caused by an incompatibility with jquery and is something that is, or at least should, be handled in the update this weekend.

Sounds great, I will be sure to let you know once you say its updated. I have many android OS devices i'll test it on, as I use all of them to be on here.

I just had to made some changes which as mentioned in the announcement changes some of our urls. However, this should not affect forum pages so if you notice and broken links /missing images in the forums please let me know. Edit: seeing some missing icons myself, will be fixed in a bit. Thanks for your patience.

Hmmm...on my Windows 7/IE 9 setup at home I can't see it. On my Windows XP/IE 8 setup at work, I can see it. I am using compatability mode in both instances.
