    2011:

    [v] CCNA Security
    [v] VCP4
[ ] One exam for CCNP Security

    2012:

    Considering VCP5, CCNP Security, CISSP.
Also thinking whether I should focus further career on Linux, Virtualization, or Security...

In 2011 I upgraded to VCP4 and got EMCSA (EMC CLARiiON Solutions Specialist), which were my two main goals. I didn't even work on MCITP:SA.

In 2012, I intend to get the VCAP4-DCA (if I don't take it by the end of December, which I doubt), then I'll work on MCITP:SA and VCP5. If there's any time left, I'll do VCAP5 and MCTS on SQL 2008.
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

I hear that. I've had a CCNP lab rarin' and ready to go since I passed the 640-801. . . and now it's been a year since my CCNA expired. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back on the R&S horse his upcoming summer and get back to it.

This is actually the main reason I enrolled at wgu. My lab has been sitting in my office unused. I went through the ICND1 book and then life happened. never took the test. I will be getting CCNA:Sec and a bachelors out of the deal. Then I plan on getting my CEH and enrolling in the masters program. That's my 2012 plan. It's a lot but I really like studying about IT security.

This year was kinda light: CISSP and 70-680. Taking the Project+ exam on the 8th, just for transfer credit to wgu. Oh and I took the Storage+ beta.

its a hard one for me. Possibly the following:

    1) finish my masters degree
    2) CCIP
    3) CCIE Written (gulp).

If not the third one then possibly a few juniper certs or CCDP.

Unless someone forces / bribes me I won't touch another Microsoft one - CCNA for me ...

I feel the same way. I'm taking CCENT in a week. I think I'll go all out on Cisco Certs and go straight to CCNP. Maybe I'll touch up on Microsoft afterwards. Is this a good idea? =/

I was just trying to find my study plans in the 2011 thread and it looks like I didn't even participate in that one, I could only find the 2010 version. Now I didn't really plan for 2011 so that might be right.. icon_smile.gif

    So 2011 brought me:
    - ITIL v3 Foundation
    - MCITP: DBA 2005
    - Started MS in Business Process Management and IT

    For 2012:
    - Focussing on the MS - Lots of work to do there!
    - Potentially take ITIL to the next level.
    WIP: Considering cert path.. :-)

I think it'll finally be the year of the Beast for me! I've been avoiding the 290/291 combo for long enough; If I wait any longer it'll get retired before I'm ready to take it!

    2. JNCIA-Junos
The Network+, CCENT, and JNCIA all cover the same basic TCP/IP networking information. I'd recommend doing the vendor-neutral Network+ first as a prep for the CCENT and JNCIA, which both contain vendor-specific information.
