Do all software version numbers work the same on all device’s? What I mean is if you have a 1900 switch and a 2950 switch do they take the same software from Cisco? I understand that each device will have different functions working but do they except the same software?

Nope, and its a pain the
figuring out the right versions. Google will be your best friend. Cisco site is tediuos at best.
