defrag raid 5 array

If I have a Raid 5 disk array on a Windows 2000 server would it get fragmented just like any other drive?

If so, would one typically use the standard Windows Disk Defragment tool?

Thanks

Yes. Once you create the array, windows only sees it as a storage device, regardless of number of drives. I'm currently running Raid0, and it gets fragmented quite a bit.

Now that you ask it this way, the name Disk Defragmenter is incorrect, it should be Volume Degragmenter... If a volume spans multiple disks (regardless of the type of RAID and whether it's hardware or Windows software raid) it would need degfragmentation like any other volume. Even though the RAID configuration may spread (stripe) info equally across multiple disks.
