New 640-461 Exam

Hey all,

Who is studying for this new exam right now? I bought and studied the old 640-460 exam book thinking the differences wouldn't be that great but they really are. All this stuff on CUCM and I don't have a lab to actually poke around in.

For those studying and/or those have already passed the updated exam, how did you study CUCM? Is there a virtual server I can run in VMWare workstation with this on it?

    Hi,

I have a lab to study (2811 routers, POE switches, IP Phones) and the official cert guide
And here you see how to install CUCM in vmware. There are also a lot of youtube videos for installing cucm in vmware.

    regards

Thank you woisch! I have two 2621XM routers running 12.4 and multiple PoE switches and a 7906 as well as IPC. In my core voice router I also have the NM-V2 with 2-port FXS/FXO cards and an AIM-CUE w/1GB CF running. This is the missing piece I needed so thank you! I will get the ISO asap and get this up and running.

I'm scheduled for 11/2/11, when are you sitting the exam?

I bought one from this guy last weekend. I made him a couple lower offers but I ended up getting one for $297.00 shipped. Should have it by the end of the week.

Hello from one Twin Citizen to another. Hopefully you passed. I had a friend take it on the 11/4 and passed. I plan to take mine on 11/10.

i actually use to practice on my customers network. This was back in the 4x/5x days. Most of the basic move add's changes can be done pretty easily from a production box to get a feel for the system. Dial plan changes I would strongly recommend against when you are learning. The good thing about VOIP though is that when you do make a mistake your never locked out the system, you may drop a **** load of calls. A few months ago I dropped a few hundred seat call center by accident. Part of the game thou!!!!

To answer your question you can get CUCM off ebay pretty cheap and install it on a VM and get a idea of how to setup basic things. At this point of learning I wouldn't suggest a full blown server for CUCM. I run it on a mac book pro 8gigs and it runs decent enough for the task in CCNA V.

Hey guys! Well I passed last Wednesday but didn't get a chance to post until now. Got a 954! I felt very comfortable with the CCME part and the general concepts, theories and study points but I was worried about CUCM. The questions on CUCM though were all touched on in the new book so I hope that is encouraging to those still studying. I am going to keep lab'ing cucm tho so I can feel more confident when working on a customer's server.

ty to all who responded to this thread!
