Joining a Client to a Domain Issue
Hello TE!
I am attemping to add my PC to a domain controller (which is in VMware Workstation). After entering the name of the domain and entering the credentials (username and password) I get an error message which says:
an attempt to resolve the dns name of a dc in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS name in the target domain
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I simply selected Network ID in the Change Settings in System Properties. I followed the Wizard, restarted the PC and were able to enter it into the domain. I may sound like a newbie (which I am), but I felt awesome getting it to work! -

The problem here is usually that your client is not pointed at the correct DNS server so it can't find a domain controller. AD fails without DNS.Decide what to be and go be it.
