My brother has been in for 12 years and just reenlisted for another 4 years because there were no jobs in his field (SatCom) in the public or private sector. While he is guaranteed a job for the next 4 years, he is tired of being sent to Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq. Eight of the last 12 years have been spent out of country. I left the military and changed fields from medical to IT because I couldn't find a job in the medical field that would pay decently.
