What is the approximate pass mark as a percentage?

Only CompTIA knows for sure--maybe--and they're not telling.

However, the purpose of the exam is to demonstrate that a person has the equivalent knowledge of a PC tech who has 500 hours(about 3 months) of bench/PC support experience. If you read the A+ forums, you will see that the exam scores vary with very few getting out of the 600 point range and I don't think I've every seen anyone get 900 points. I think that this only demonstrates that some folks can retain study material better than others. There are exceptions to this, but the exceptions are few. I don't visit other forums, I don't have time, but you would probably see the same situation there too. Overall I think the only philosophy to follow is the "a pass is a pass" one and let it go at that. Because, after you're certified, the points never show up again in any CompTIA info.

If you're thinking about practice exams, it is recommended that a person score at least 90% to be reasonably sure that they are ready for the real thing.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!
