This was a good read and thought I would share it with everyone. It was written by Steve Yegge (Google):

Damn that was a long read!
The part that struck me as "odd" was the Dogfood concept. I was part of the MS Global Helpdesk so I was/am familiar with Dogfood and how MS approaches it. I guess I was under the false impression that everyone did it that way.

The other big realization he had was that he can't always build the right thing. I think Larry Tesler might have struck some kind of chord in Bezos when he said his mom couldn't use the goddamn website. It's not even super clear whose mom he was talking about, and doesn't really matter, because nobody's mom can use the goddamn website.
lmao...
this tooWe had no API at all at launch, and last I checked, we had one measly API call. One of the team members marched in and told me about it when they launched, and I asked: "So is it the Stalker API?" She got all glum and said "Yeah." I mean, I was joking, but no... the only API call we offer is to get someone's stream. So I guess the joke was on me.
