Is a bridge a layer 2 device? and does it learn MAC addresses?
My answer and understanding is yes to both. And Bridges seperate collision domains but the network is still one big broadcast domain?

Correct, bridges operate on layer 2. A bridge, more commonly referred to as a switch these days with high port density, does separate collision domains, and can also separate broadcast domains using VLANs.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.
