Optionsqcomer Member Posts: 142There are vbscripts out there that would accomplish this. There is also OCS Inventory NG | Home, Spiceworks and some others.

EDIT:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/vbscript/AssetScan.aspx - I found this one however it is not creating the actual file so I will look into it more. I believe is has to do with Win 7.
I didn't realize that vb scripts are readily available.WGU Progress BSIT:NA | Current Term:1 | Transfered To-Do In Progress Completed

It only picks up super detailed info for Windows machines, but i've seen it get a good bit of info from printers and a few switches etc. I think it can scan up to 25 devices for free, Works out really well and allows you to export to an excel doc if you need it. Since I work for an MSP, that's how we tell our clients what needs to be upgraded and in what order.WGU BS:IT Completed June 30th 2012.

Thanks for the info, I am currently working on my company's IA audit plan and they don't have one currently. Was trying to figure out how to do an initial inventory audit so this will come in handy.
