Our district owns quite a number of public ranges. Thousandsand thousands of Ips. Its ridiculous.

Just found that amusing that we actually got the assignment on top of our current ones. Granted, it isn't THAT easy anymore, but some service provider do still need IPv4 space - lots of them

I've often wondered how many places actually use the address space that they own. I've worked at places that own an entire /24 and even some that owned an entire /16. They've owned the address space since ~1994-1995, and don't even use a fraction of it.

I worked for a hospital that had a direct assigned /22. They use about 15 out of the 1000+ addresses.

it may have ran out, but we (my company) still have lots of unused ip addresses, and I assume we're not the only ones.
