RIP routing

I've just been going over some RIPv1 and RIPv2 routing tables. in the picture I've got this network and R1, with RIP v1, thinks it can reach all 254 hosts for the 192.168.4 network. However we know that it is subnetted down to /30:
R1 routing table
R 192.168.4.0/24 [120/1] via 172.30.2.2, 00:00:09, Serial0/0/0
I then changed this over to RIPv2 and although I understood that RIPv2 does send subnet information R1 still had /24 in it's table? It only changed over to a /30 when I changed the 192.168 network to a 172.30.4.0 /30?
Why was this?
