in CCNA & CCENT
Hi all,
Unfornunately i am not one of the lucky ones to have the actual equipment to work on but i have alot of experience in networking.
I have however got Routersim but im not too happy as its supposed to be good for CCNP while i find it very limiting for CCNA.My advice to anyone is to forget about these sims.
In the sybex book i have it explains how to create a vlan on a 2950.
In global config mode
i.e.
vlan 2 (return)
name blue (return)
This is similar to the 1900 except you dont need the fist return
On my router sim v4.0 this doesnt work, i must go to
#vlan database
Can you tell me which is correct for the exam, the sybex or the routersim.
Thanks

For the purpose of exam, it is best to know both methods.
You can refer to my CCNA study guide for how to configure VLAN under the vlan database mode and the config-vlan mode:

The following Cisco paper also explains the configuration steps in detail:

Ive just noticed little things which are left out here and there and when i dont
have the actual switches to test with its a pain.
Cheers for the extra reading,it will be good revision.
