Adding a printer to Win 98 computer
it_consultant
One of my clients has a medical devices that is still running Windows 98. They recently upgraded their printer to a Xerox Phaser 6280 and...no surprise, there is no printer driver for that model printer which is compatible with Win 98. Does anyone know a way around this?

If the client is only interested in printing regular documents, you may be able to select a Xerox printer that is not the same model as the one installed, but Windows 98 already has drivers for. I have done that many times...Someone has an HP Laserjet 450 something...I just choose HP Laserjet and it works. Since it has something to do with medical, they may need the printer for High-Res images...in that case, I don't know. Good luck.

The Xerox website says it has PCL6 emulation. I'm sure that Win98 has a Laserjet driver or two included that will probably work.
Edit: The Laserjet 4000 was the first PCL6 printer, so try that or a later model.
