70-642 Pass

After much delay and a ton of stuff at work and life slowing me down, I finally had the chance to re-sit this test. I know I changed a right answer to a wrong answer, but nevertheless I still hit over 700. Some seriously nasty stuff this go around as well. Used the Kaplan selftest, the MS press book, the Sybex book, Labsim, Technet, a test lab at my home, and my day to day work on Server 08 R2. On to the 70-640

I'll agree with you there, I can never see using a server as a router. Nor can I ever see using direct access or NAP anytime soon, I work for an MSP so we deal with smaller clients mostly. Mostly the DNS and DHCP stuff is the type of thing we do on a regular basis, so that came pretty easy.

I did the same changed correct to incorrect and failed 70-640 today by a single question. Several questions hit on commands or obscure items not mentioned in either of the books or labsim/ucertify practice tests I used. Very very heavy on certificate services but I expected that and did well on that portion.

I'll just try the test again next week.

Congrats on the pass. I have attempt number four in a few weeks. There seems to be a lot more obscure stuff on this one than in the past.

Good luck on your re-take. By no means did I score amazingly, but a pass is a pass, especially on one of these things. There really is some seriously obscure stuff on this thing, I know I had a few that left me scratching my head pretty good.

What the... I thought the consensus was that this was an easy exam? That's the impression I got while studying for the 70-640 anyway.

Now that I've started studying for the 70-642, all of a sudden, people seem to be failing left and right. What gives? Have MS changed the objectives, or have they started asking the questions in a more convoluted way?

edit: Also, congrats to the OP.

Material in 640 is harder, but you use them. Bulk of 742 is worthless, so the only time you get to practice them is labbing while studying for 642.

Exactly! So much of the 642 I will never ever use, however looking over the 640 objectives, I know I use a good bit on a daily basis.
